Former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, has faulted the presidential ambition of General Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Speaking to journalist yesterday, September 24 in Abuja, the former governor said Buhari and Atiku’s continued aspiration is blocking the interest of other Nigerians, advising them to bury their presidential ambition, Vanguard reports.
Though Buhari, a former head of state and national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to openly declare his presidential ambition for the forthcoming 2015 election, Atiku declared his ambition yesterday.
Omehia stated that they both have the constitutional right to aspire for any office in the land but they should rather sponsor younger candidates to the position, rather than having a perpetual aspiration.

He said: “They have consistently contested for the position and their continued aspiration is blocking the interest of the public. Why not now believe that there is a destiny and that its not your destiny to be president? You just give it up and God has a way of doing it for them.
“But besides that, there are other competent people you could also sponsor and support. You can’t say every person in your community is a duller and you are the only wise man.
“My position is that since they have been trying and it is not working out, they should see it as providence.”

According to Omehia neither Buhari nor Atiku can defeat President Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election as he has achieved more than the both of them.
Buhari has refused to give up his fight for the presidential post as there are indications he will be contesting once again in the forthcoming 2015 presidential elections under the platform of the APC. He has contested three consecutive times and lost to the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku served as the 2nd elected Vice-President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo but he is now a member of the APC. He released his campaign video some days back, promising Nigerians change.
