American Idol Season 20 runner-up HunterGirl is part of CMT’s Next Women of Country class of 2024. The list is now in its 11th year, and it was revealed on Tuesday. HunterGirl reacted to the honor on social media.
HunterGirl Featured on CMT’s Next Women of Country
According to Billboard, the Next Women of Country franchise aims to fight gender disparity in the world of country music as part of the CMT Equal Play initiative. The 2024 class features Anne Wilson, Denitia, Ella Langley, Emily Ann Roberts, HunterGirl, Karley Scott Collins, Kylie Frey, Lauren Watkins, Madeline Merlo, Mae Estes, Tanner Adell, The Castellows, Tigirlily Gold, and Twinnie.
The list was announced on Tuesday at City Winery Nashville, in front of a gathering of industry members and media. It was co-hosted by Leslie Fram, Kimberly Perry, and Colbie Caillat — who will serve as mentors to the 2024 class.
HunterGirl reacted to being included on the list in an Instagram post on Tuesday. As she wrote, “Being part of CMT’s Next Women of Country has been on my bucket list since I was in high school. I am SO honored to be part of this amazing 2024 class of women!”
HunterGirl finished Season 20 of American Idol in second place, behind winner Noah Thompson. Since appearing on the show in 2022, she has released several original songs.
