NCDC Confirms 796 New COVID-19 Cases In Nigeria

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday evening, 11th December 2020, confirmed 796 new cases of Coronavirus disease infection in Nigeria.

The new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed via a statement on the official Twitter handle of the health agency.

This brings the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria to 72,140 which includes 65,722 discharged cases and 1,190 deaths.

Below is the breakdown of the latest cases according to states with Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory having the highest number of cases, followed by Lagos State.

In a piece of related news, the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Chikwe Ihekweazu, has accused some states of not conducting enough coronavirus (COVID-19) tests.

Naija News reports that the NCDC DG made this known during the presidential task force briefing on COVID-19, on Thursday.

He disclosed that Cross River, Jigawa, Kogi, Osun, Ebonyi, Adamawa, and Zamfara were not conducting enough tests.
